Who is Eve Rookies?
Eve Rookies is a public community that hosts fleets for the wider Eve Online community. While our fleets are aimed at newer and returning Eve players, everyone is welcome. After all, the best ship in Eve is the FriendSHIP!
In March 2024 we will celebrate our 3rd anniversary as a thriving community!
What is the Ore Outreach Program?
CCP has put a lot of research into how players make connections within Eve Online. According to CCP, in order to form a meaningful connection we need 4 things:
- Proximity – closeness to each other
- Frequency – meet frequently
- Duration – length to when we meet each other
- Intensity – sharing secrets, stories, etc
In addition to this formula, CCP has discovered that connected players are more valuable, engaged, satisfied and stick around longer.
So, taking this information into consideration, Eve Rookies has decided to develop a program to reach out to new players coming into the game.
Interaction with New Players
In order to create a connection to new players, the Eve Rookies leadership team (and players passionate about our mission of connecting players to community), will be setting up in a Career Mission system.
From here we’ll attempt to connect with you, the new player, by inviting you into our mining fleet. Our Porpoise (a command ship) will boost you to increase your yield and you’ll have the opportunity to come to the Eve Rookies Discord and chat with us in a voice channel. Or, just in fleet chat if you like.
Why Do This in a Career Mission System?
As per CCP, “rookie griefing” isn’t allowed in Career Mission systems.
We hope that by operating within the scope of CCP’s rules, this will show our intentions are exactly what we say they are. Simply helping out a new player and introducing them to community.
What Does the Program Offer?
The following is what we’re offering when we are out running the Ore Outreach Program:
- ability to receive mining boosts by joining our fleet
- ability to join us on the Eve Rookies Discord
- ability to sell the ore you mine while we’re in the system at Jita prices
What is the Buyback Program About?
When players talk about buyback in Eve Online, it generally refers to some sort of program that allows you to sell your goods without having to take it to a trade hub.
Most buybacks will buy your goods at between 80-90% Jita prices. However, for the Ore Outreach Program, we will be buying whatever you mine at 100% Jita prices (i.e. whatever Jita price is when we start the fleet).
Why do we do this?
We’re not interested in trying to make a profit off the ore. We know you’re new and every bit of ISK you can gather will help start up your career in New Eden.
All ore we buy through this program will be put into ships that we will use for other public fleets in the future.
What if I Don’t Want to Join Your Fleet?
We get it, honestly we do. Not everyone is ready to meet other players in their first few days of the game. Or some people just want to do it solo. If the buyback is open in the system, you’re still more than welcome to use it!
Of course, we hope at some point you’ll join us for an Eve Rookies fleet. Until then, our suggestion is to:
- Complete all of the Career Missions.
- Complete the Sisters of Eve story arc.
- Work on completing objectives in the AIR Career Program (you get modules, ISK and skill points).
- Open the opportunities window and do your daily AIR goals and other opportunities that show up!
